Day Five
I'm not exactly sure I like this. When I look at it I kind of feel confused and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the many colors of it, or maybe the background of bricks and leaves that is distracting. Maybe I need a different crop, sliding the dried flower to the left corner instead of the right so it curves into the photo instead of out...hmmm.
I'm having a hard time now finding interesting things. There are things, but they are kind of blah . Five days in and I don't know if I'll be able to find 31 photos out there! Hopefully tomorrow will bring something!

I certainly do not feel confused when I look at this photo. For me it captures the promise of new beginnings. I like your depth of field and the composition is very balanced. It's a very nice photo.
ReplyDeleteI think what you miss is the tad of sharpness in the center of the larger dried flower because in itself it's a lovely rustic winterphoto.
ReplyDeleteThe slight lack of sharpness in the center of the larger flower is what I'm missing, as well. As for the subject, though, I think it's very interesting. I personally like looking at flowers on the downside of their cycle. The colors of the background and the composition work well for me too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a little closer in to the bigger flower, and a little sharper? Still I love the copper tones!
ReplyDeleteI like this a lot. The flower on the right looks as if its about to come right out of the photo.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors here - tells us most clearly that not only spring and the first bloom can hold beauty and that things we might dismiss because they are tired can often hold a gentle loveliness.
ReplyDeleteHang in there Dd. It's very hard to take a fantastic photo every day. I had a hard day today also. But I think this photo is wonderful. I like the dof, and the colors are fantastic. It brings out a little sadness, because you know the flowers are gone. But I think it is a great photo. I would be happy if I took this shot.
ReplyDeleteI love it, full stop.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are so soft and GORGEOUS, it's a pretty neat find.
We don't expect a masterpiece every day, keep going you will find something.
26 days is not really that long, it will fly by, promise!
I don't find this confusing or unappealing at all. You are right that if you slid the composition to the left to put more space on the right, it might be improved, if you have more image in the shot in that direction, but it's not strictly necessary, I don't think. Love your choice of DOF.
ReplyDeleteDon't give up now. There are lots of interesting things about. Even if you think they look blah, think of how they could be composed or lit to make them more interesting.
Lovely colours and curves in this shot. Maybe square would enclose it better, but then again maybe not.
